CASE STUDIES
The case studies below are typical examples of tutoring candidates I took on and helped to develop their understanding and confidence in each subject, ultimately assisting them to improve their grades and secure a better grade than they had envisaged, and been predicted by their schools/colleges.

Millie had sadly not performed as well in her A levels as she had hoped. She and her parents decided she would spend a year going back over content in 2 A levels, but move from Economics to Business A level (Edexcel exam board), and via home schooling, look to complete the course in just one year. However, as it was a brand new course for Millie and her mum (who undertook the home schooling), they asked me to support Millie with: fine-tuning her knowledge in key areas of content; exam technique and approach to answering essay questions; plus, improve her confidence in the subject.
We worked together online for 6 months and it was a delight to see Millie's confidence grow. Not only this, but her answers to essay questions kept on getting better and better, as we went through multiple past paper resources. As Millie was home schooled, we didn't have any tests or assessments to benchmark her progress, thus I was responsible for this. The result was outstanding, with Millie achieving an A* in Business (along with A and B in the subjects she resat). A very happy Millie secured her place at Bath University to study Management.

Henna's parents approached me hafl way through her Year 12 at a private school in Reading. Henna's ambition was very much to go into musical theatre production, but she was struggling with her A level in Economics (AQA exam board)..
We worked togerher diligiently both face-to-face and online for some 16 months. Sessions were usually weekly and continued during school hoidays when Henna herself wasn't on holiday with her family. I like to keep parents updated with progress, so ensured I sent regular WhatsApp messages and emails to both parents. Any questions are answered same day whenever I can, if not, next day.
I was delighted as Henna's confidence grew, as did her results at school, in test and assessment scores. Ultimately, Henna achieved a B grade, although preicted a B by her school, ensuring she claimed her first choice University course in London.

Charlie was studying at an independent boarding school in southern England, Although a keen musician, with parents living in southern France and hence a strong desire to become fluent in French, Charlie was and is extremely keen on building a career in business, utilising his numerous skills. But, alas his AQA A level Business course wasn't going to plan in Year 12.
Having spoken to his father, we formed a plan to build Charlie’s confidence and address his gaps in knowledge, and to work hard on exam technique. Some 15 months of online tutoring followed, where we developed a fantastic rapport, exchanging stories from F1 to music and bands (Charlie and my son both happen to be drummers) to, more crucially, businesses and activities in economies not just in the UK, but globally.
When Charlie and I first met, his most recent assessment scores midway through Year 12 were D/E. I am delighted to say, Charlie secured a B grade, which enabled him to secure his number 1 choice place at Cardiff University studying Business and French. During a recent conversation, Charlie revealed he is currently undertaking his third year at Uni which is the 'sandwich' year in industry - currently he is working in sales for a super yacht brokerage company in Monaco - not a bad usage of his skills!!

Samantha is a very capable student, who wanted to stay on track for an A grade in Economics (Edexcel), as this was what she wanted to study at university after she left her state school in London. Her mum approached me with about 5 months left of Year 13, to help maintain Sam's performance, keep her confidence up and importantly to tackle numerous past papers. All tuition was conducted online.
Sam is highly organised and responded well to exam questions I set her as homework, and took extensive notes whilst we went through feedback and discussed past papers answers, from multi-choice to short-form and essay questions. This level of organisation undoubtedly helped her be prepared for her A level exams, where I am delighted to say she secured the A grade, enabling her to go to her first-choice university in Nottingham to study Economics.

Mollie studied BTEC Business at a state school and needed help with the two exam Units, Marketing and Finance. I went to Mollie's house as very close-by to mine, in both Years 12 and 13 to help her secure the grades she needed to get an overall Merit on this course (equivalent to A level C grade). Mollie secured her first-choice course at Winchester University.

Ralph is a Dutch national based in Rotterdam, who studied at a British international school. I helped Ralph secure his required grade in the Finance Unit of the BTEC International course during his final year - conducted online.
-
Mani is a Portuguese national living in Lisbon, who also studied at a British international school, which uses the Cambridge International exam board. He needed very short-term, urgent help building up to Year 12 summer exams. I spent a month online with him going through past papers and am pleased he secured the required grade to carry him through to Year 13.

Josh is a T level Management & Administration student at a state school, going into Year 13 in Sep 2025. He joined the course late, after moving from A levels at Christmas time. Needing to catch up on missed content, we worked together closely on a weekly basis, face-to-face, ultimately leading to him securing a Merit in the exams at the end of Year 12, a fantastic performance!

Sienna is in Year 13 studying A level Economics (AQA) at an independent boarding school. Unfortunately, she suffered quite a lot of illness during Year 12 and so missed a lot of Teacher input. I have tutored her for some 6 months, online, with a view to helping her catch up on content and to practice exam technique, and to go over past AS papers. Results have been superb, with D/E now converted to B/B for Micro/Macro, and she is on course to do very well in Year 13.
